Elon Musk reportedly chats regularly with Putin

1

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has reportedly maintained frequent communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022, raising security concerns among U.S. intelligence officials, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

One significant point of concern reportedly arose when Putin allegedly requested Musk to withhold Starlink, his satellite internet service, from Taiwan—a favor seemingly requested on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Musk’s interactions with Russia appear to be growing as their interests increasingly align. Over the past year, Russia has allegedly used Musk’s social platform, X, to spread disinformation, including false narratives about U.S. political figures like Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz and the government’s response to recent hurricanes.

Furthermore, Ukrainian officials have claimed that Russian troops occupying their territory are leveraging Starlink to extend the operational range of their drones, potentially complicating the battlefield dynamics in Ukraine.

The situation puts the U.S. government in a bind. Musk’s companies, particularly SpaceX, are deeply integrated into national security, including the launch of critical government satellites, underscoring the extent of the government’s reliance on Musk’s technologies.
